The Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce will offer the “Collier County Planning and Capital Projects!” event tomorrow at the Chamber building.
The discussion will center around over $100 million in local capital projects planned by the County, and is “specifically designed for planning, engineering, design and construction firms specializing in infrastructure improvements in our community.”
The cost of attendance is $10 for Chamber Alliance members, and the event runs from 8 AM to 9:30 AM at 2390 Tamiami Trail N.

William Moyers, author of “Broken,” a story of “addiction and redemption,” spoke last Thursday at Drug-Free Collier’s Community Awareness Luncheon. Excerpts from Moyers’ book can be found on the book’s website. Moyers is Executive Director of Hazelden’s Center for Public Advocacy, and has appeared on shows like Larry King Live, the Today Show, and the Oprah Winfrey Show. The luncheon event, held at the Hilton Naples, was an overwhelming success.

The Chamber of Southwest Florida is scheduled to present an Issues & BBQ Luncheon regarding the “Property Tax Outlook.” The featured speakers will be Ken Wilkinson, Lee County Property Appraiser and Charlie Green, Lee County Clerk of Courts. The program is scheduled for Wednesday, March 25th, from Noon to 1:30, with registration at 11:30 AM. Hodges University (Room 364) will graciously host the presentation.

A performance Friday by Wycliffe Gordon Jazz Quartet will pay tribute to architect, jazz musician and photographer Bruce Gora, a friend and colleague of ours who passed away in December. Gordon is a former veteran member of the Wynton Marsalis Septet, The Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, and The Gully Low Jazz Band. A teacher at The Juilliard School, he has played gigs with musicians ranging from Dizzy Gillespie to Lionel Hampton, and has been a featured guest artist on Billy Taylor’s Jazz at the Kennedy Center series.
